open-ended question

Why Mona doesn't want to be a Chinese; instead, she wants to become jewish.

  1. In my opinion Mona does not want to be Chinese because she wants to brake off from the family's idea of how life should turn out. I believe she wants to be Jewish because she wants to fit with her friends; moreover, becoming Jewish is a act of rebellion against her parents and tradition.

  2. Lastly Mona is showing independence; Mona is growing up and becoming more mature by making her own decisions.
